Infrastructure Engineer

Infrastructure Engineer with network skills

4 days a week in the office in London

We are working with an Investment Manager in London who are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with solid understanding of Networking.

The role will focus on maintaining the firm’s current hybrid cloud, network, Internet and server connectivity infrastructure, and the firewall estate for a demanding business environment. The individual will deal with various issues, including On-Prem/Cloud Infrastructure, networking problems, and routine scheduled network infrastructure upgrades. The candidate must be hands-on and have experience working with Azure, Cisco, M365 and Windows Server. IaC concepts, with scripting know-how using PowerShell and Terraform to automate deployments and tasks.

You would be expected to:

  • Maintain and monitor a highly available and complex hybrid cloud and network infrastructure
  • Perform daily system and network monitoring
  • Repair and recover from hardware and software failures across the entire infrastructure stack
  • Identify issues proactively and suggest solutions
  • Provide some end-user support including VIP support
  • Manage switch and firewall software and update deployments
  • Do occasional out-of-hours and weekend work
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be eager to learn and have attention to detail
  • Produce and maintain documentation

Have a technical understanding of:

  • The maintenance of network solutions and improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including, firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers and WiFi access points.
  • Experience of network switches and firewalls, internally used are Juniper and Palo Alto but other experience is OK.
  • Supporting Windows Services such as certificate services, AD, DNS, NTP, GPOs and DHCP
  • Configuring firewalls, routing and switching, to maximise network efficiency and security
  • Maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Maintaining a schedule of updates to the latest firmware releases
  • Investigating faults in a network
  • Reporting network status to key stakeholders
  • Azure cloud computing concepts and design
  • Supporting all M365-related services, both backend and front end.
  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Powershell
  • Azure AD/Entra ID and related services like Conditional Access.

Avaloq Engineer – Payments

Avaloq Developer required to strengthen the in-house development and shape the future of the Core Banking infrastructure. You will be a key contributor to the design and optimization of Avaloq payment workflows and interfaces and provide expert guidance on payment integration, system customization, and best practices across the full transaction lifecycle.

Your responsibilities

  • Own and develop software solutions in Avaloq and surrounding applications
  • Improve and maintain existing tailored solutions in Avaloq
  • Assist and consult our business owners in the definition of functional requirements
  • Act as technical project lead in your area of responsibility; govern testing campaigns and activities for solutions developed in your domain
  • Coordinate your work with developers in related areas as well as internal and external stakeholders

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related discipline
  • Strong software development knowledge, especially in Avaloq
  • Solid understanding of banking and finance

Our well established Hedge Fund client is seeking and experienced Business Analyst / Project Manager to join their London based team in a permanent role:

This role is circa £75 – 90k base salary and will be based onsite in central London 4 days a week with 1 home office.

Your Role:

We seek an experienced Business Analyst for our Hedge Fund business. The successful candidate will work closely with all different business stakeholders on workflow automation solutions concerning compliance, risk, portfolio management, operations, and trading.

The candidate should demonstrate strong technical skills and financial product knowledge. They must have experience working alongside a global team to deliver solutions that adhere to firm wide standards. They will oversee the implementation and configuration to provide the solution to the end business user. The role is one that requires full understanding of the in house and third-party systems and dependencies. It is also required to be able to design and create the reporting and controls that need to be in place to maintain the solutions.

Job Description:

  • Work closely with Compliance team to produce regulatory reporting for the firm to be compliant with regulators requirements.
  • Elicit requirements using a variety of techniques to build the specification.
  • Critically evaluate information from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts and providing options to the business sponsor.
  • Act as conduit between the business sponsor and the software development team/third party vendor.
  • Proactive communication with business units around progress and delivery timeframes.
  • Design and document the controls required to maintain solutions.
  • Plan and design the implementation phase of any project while considering go live and ongoing support process.
  • Oversee and/or implement the deployment of solutions into the live environment. It is possible that the final solution could be fully controlled by the change team.
  • Provide user documentation for any applications and processes implemented.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or IT related field and relevant work experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial instruments including but not limited to: CDS, IRS, fixed income, equities, equity derivatives, ETD, Commodity and FX.
  • Ability to write complex SQL.
  • Understand both Oracle and SQL Server.
  • VBA within Excel
